The annual Bentonville Christmas Parade created memories not just for those watching but for the participants, too.
?My favorite part about being in the parade would have to be marching down and hearing everybody just yelling our names and yelling ?oh look it?s the Bentonville Pride,? Josh Coppick, a member of the Bentonville High School band that marched in parade.
This year?s parade featured holiday traditions from around the world. There was even a Japanese Sumo dancer.
Each float was specifically designed to represent a theme or tell a story.
?It was toyland and we made it because we made it look like we were making toys on the float,? said 12-year-old Mandy Rotenberry.
Some parade watchers saw the candy and colorful floats, others saw more.
?I think it means a lot to everyone because we all get to gather together and focus on the spirit of Christmas and I think that?s something that every state, every city should have,? said Rachel Smith, who attended with her family.
For member of the high school band, the Bentonville Pride, the parade was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
?I?ve never been the center of attention before,? said band member Fabian Cisneros. ?We just played our hearts out, out there.?
The Christmas Parade brought thousands to downtown Bentonville to celebrate the holiday season. It also brought Rotenberry, who got a chance to meet her idol, parade co-emcee and 5NEWS anchor Ashley Beck.
?She?s really nice on the news and she?s always fun,? Rotenberry said.
5NEWS Anchor Daren Bobb was also an emcee at Saturday?s parade.
