COMMENTARY | If all the allegations against GOP candidate Herman Cain are falsea fourth woman is claiming inappropriate sexual conduct against him.
Unlike the first three, where they have remained silent due to conditions of a settlement, this woman has not been nearly as silent. Going public and speaking to the media about the allegations is one more piece of bad press Cain doesn't need.
Although he is denying the allegations, it's a little harder when someone comes out and says you did something wrong. And when you have an attorney like Gloria Allred championing the accuser's claims, it's even more difficult. Like her or not, Allred is one of those people who will end up talking loud enough that the whole world will listen.
Cain is quickly becoming this election's Gary Hart. When Hart ran for president in the 1980s, he was a front-runner just like Cain. Then the incident on the boat became public and his presidential hopes sunk like a rock. To be fair, the fact Cain can withstand all of these allegations and still have people supporting him is a testament to his influence on people.
But it's not the people who already would vote for him that matter. It's those undecided ones. Elections are not won or lost on card-carrying members of political parties. It's on the backs of the undecided. There are hearing bits and pieces of what is going on with Cain. To them, it's got to be sounding like someone did something bad and did not apologize. It's a matter of trust. I've said it before and I will say it again, you have to have a level of trust in who you vote for. That's just as important as their ideas.
So if these allegations are true, than Cain should just come out and admit it. There's no sense in denying it any further. When enough people start accusing you of something, eventually those accusations begin to hold more water.
